A bison bull stares straight ahead, his heavy, curled coat filling the frame while wildflowers soften the meadow around him. There is a steady, patient strength in a bison's gaze that has always stopped me in my tracks. He is not in a hurry, and he is not going anywhere until he is ready.
At just six inches square, this miniature was an exercise in packing as much texture and presence as possible into a small space, from the dense curls on his brow to the soft glow of light behind the flowers.
This piece will be offered at the 2026 Bozeman Art Museum Miniature Art Auction, supporting art education programs for local children.
